Welcome to ANIMdb
Welcome to the opening of ANIMdb, join us on our mission to preserve Video Game, Anime, Cartoon and Animation soundtracks!
Hello, and welcome to the initial opening of ANIMdb (Animation Music Database)!
I am Sakara your initial database curator, and developer of the website. I built this website to be a database archive for Video Game, Anime, Cartoon, and Animation Soundtracks. While there are many websites for music, shows, anime there are not to many websites (in english especially) that have a focus on these specific categories.
Inspired by our friends over at VGMdb, Discogs, and MusicBrainz I set out to make my own contribution take to the community. While we are building our own meta database for things like composers, producers and also things like labels, studios, publishers in which you can search them on our website and see their meta releases we are not aiming to be a full meta db like VGMdb, or the others.. that is their corner of the internet and they do it very well.
Our aim is on the physical and digital storage of these soundtracks, especially older soundtracks that are near impossible to find for animation even as far back as Japanese Animations in the 80s. I hope over time we will gain additional contributors who can help us grow our archive. Our aim is to have at least 1 primary copy of any album (EP, Specials, Etc included) in one of the areas we cover. While most of the archive will probably be digital as that is just how the internet works, we are also hoping to obtain physical copies when possible.
Speaking of, if you have physical copies of a soundtrack (Any format! CD, Blu-ray, Tape, etc) that you are fine with parting to us for archive purposes please see our form located here. While normally we are looking for donations, we can sometimes help cover shipping costs. For any donations we receive, if we do not have a perfect digital rip copy already on the website we will also use that to place a copy on here digitally as well.
While I have tried to include as many features as I can for the initial version of the website there are still additional things coming down the pipeline, especially around our archival information and other general community features and enhancements.
If you do not want to donate physical copies of media, but still want to contribute high quality rips from media sources (Especially FLAC or other lossless formats) please see our contribution area of the website here.
If you want to browse for listings that currently have low quality rips and are looking to provide digital file upgrades, please see this area here.
Want to see a changelog of the recent updates and changes to the website, please view this page here.
I am looking for additional staff, namely moderators, editors, and curators to help keep our archive up to date and growing, but since the website is brand new I recommend just using the various existing databases to naturally grow your relationship with the website and to then potentially become eligible for a staff role if that is your desire.
If you have experience as an approver or reviewer on another archive or database based website, especially with audio media, please do not hesitate to reach out on your own for a chat.
